The Healthy Weigh consists of a team of Registered Dietitians that all have experience treating those eating disorders. I have 6.5 years of in-patient experience at Remuda Ranch plus 2 years of experience as a member of the University of Texas, Austin eating disorder team. I am trained in DBT and also am comfortable with spiritual integration into the recovery process.

Laura has been treating eating disorders since 2005.  She gained her clinical experience in treating eating disorders at the Renfrew Center in PA.  At Renfrew she was an admissions coordinator and therapist.  She feels very comfortable with assessing a client's needs and recommending treatment options, such as referrals to nutritionists and higher levels of care.  Laura takes a humanistic approach to therapy recognizing that clients have their own unique set of experiences.  She encourages clients to develop intuitiveness, support, daily structure and coping skills.

My first 11 years of working with eating disorders was with a group of therapists who had treated eating disorders for a combined 50-60 years. It was a wonderful experience and invaluable learning environment. I had several eating disorders in my own family which gives me a different perspective. I know the importance of choices, staying away from power struggles, and the difficulty patients have fighting their eating disorder. In addition, I am sympathetic with parents and help them support their child in a healthy way.

I take a practical yet individualized approach to working with each of my clients. I am able to be most helpful to adults struggling with symptoms resulting from eating disordered and addictive patterns. The doctors at Eating Recovery Center have been treating eating disorders collectively for about 75 years.  Recovery from an eating disorder is about much more than escaping to a serene environment where nutritious foods are provided for every meal.  The Eating Recovery Center team helps patients build social support, set realistic nutrition goals and identify the pressures - whether internal or external - that keep them from living full, healthy lives.  Our doctors are leaders in the field and have designed our center with patients' needs in mind.  

La Luna Center has been treating eating disorders for 6 years and their treatment team includes a psychologist, counselor, and dietician. In addition to treating eating disorders, the facility treats co-existing conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Substance Use/Abuse, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. There is an aftercare program for individuals stepping down in care that meets for an hour and a half once a week and is $50. Fairwinds only accepts 10 patients in the program at one time to provide the individualized and restorative care needed for this population. Turning Point of Tampa began treating eating disorders in 1989.  They are committed to providing high quality 12-step based, eating disorder and dual diagnosis treatment.  Their residential, day and intensive outpatient program follow a holistic model with the focus on the individual, relapse prevention and recovery through responsibility.  Their clients meet with a nutritionist weekly and attend several eating disorder groups, as well as have supervised grocery shopping, meal preparations, and meals following their individualized food plans.

Center for Hope of the Sierras treats many eating disorders and was a pioneer in the diagnosis and tracking of diabetic bulimia known as diabulimia. Established in 2003, Avalon Hills is accredited by The Joint Commission and treats anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS).
